Richard Ronan

Mayor of the Capital of the Isle of Man

Here in The Capital of the Isle of Man, mayors are elected with a unique election method that was established two hundred years ago. Just in case you didnโ€™t know, many online casinos like newzealandnodeposit.com allow players to place bets on who is going to win on the next elections. The 18 councilors are elected from 6 wards, each for a four-year term expiring on 1 May 2012, 2016, and so on. The mayor is elected annually by the councilors, usually (but not necessarily) from their number. Although there are no longer any aldermen, the corporation's legal title is unchanged. As its name implies, it is a body corporate, but the borough council is not.
