Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band
History
The Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band has been in existence since 1896, and in fact actually existed prior to this under a different name.
Two amusing booklets, outlining the early days of the band were produced by the late Dennis Spooner, these can be obtained from the Band Secretary at £6 per set, including postage, telephone Simon Court on 823950 or email [email protected]
Purpose
The band exists for the benefit of its members, who are interested in music and brass bands . The band derives great satisfaction when it is able to discourse music for the benefit of its supporters and the general public.
Rehearsal and Venue
The band rehearses on Sunday evenings at 7pm and Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm. The venue is the Band Room in Queen Street, Castletown. Visitors always most welcome. Please telephone Band Secretary 823950 or email [email protected] prior to visit to ensure rehearsal is being held.

Beginners and junior players
Beginners of any age are most welcome and should contact Band Secretary, Simon Court telephone 823950 or email [email protected]
Instruments are available to suitable applicants and full training can be provided, with the ultimate aim of integrating new players into the main band at the earliest opportunity.
Engagement Lists
The band maintains a Supporters Club database, and copies of the engagement lists are issued at regular intervals. For inclusion on this list please contact the Band Secretary as above.
Engagements
The engagements undertaken are very varied, and include Parades, Church services, tourist concerts, concerts for charity. To engage the band please contact Band Secretary as above and follow with a letter requesting the band’s services.
